Welcome to the Illinois Association of Park Districts

"Representing park districts, forest preserves, conservation, recreation and special recreation agencies since 1928."

Legislative Key Contact Program
Only you can ensure that parks and recreation has a voice in Springfield. Become your agency's legislative key contact and advocate for responsible public policies to benefit park districts, forest preserves, conservation, recreation and special recreation agencies. Each member agency of IAPD is encouraged to appoint one elected official to serve as its Legislative Key Contact.

The Legislative Key Contact should be an elected official who is interested in the legislative process and in keeping abreast of legislation and its impact on parks and recreation in Illinois. No legislative experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and understand the legislative process. The Key Contact must be willing and able to communicate through e-mail.

Keep Your Membership Information Up-to-Date
Keeping your agency's membership information up-to-date assures that your agency's board members and professionals will receive all pertinent communications from IAPD, including conference-related mailings, notification of upcoming grant opportunities, legislative alerts, newsletters and Illinois Parks & Recreation magazine. The association also uses this information to compile the annual membership directory.

IAPD’s Legislative Conference and Parks Day at the Capitol were huge successes!
Numerous media outlets covered the events, which attracted nearly 400 representatives of Illinois park districts, forest preserves, conservation, recreation and special recreation agencies.

Peter Murphy was invited to speak on the WTAX Radio morning show the day after the Legislative Conference. Click here to listen to a segment from the show.
