Friends of Illinois Parks
Protecting and enhancing parks, open spaces, and the quality of life in Illinois communities
Friends partnered this year with Living Lands & Waters to bring more than 30,000 free trees to our members. Since our partnership began in 2012, nearly 100,000 trees have been planted in park and recreation agencies throughout Illinois.
Friends also supported the PowerPlay! Beyond School Grant Program through the promotion of the Park District Youth License plate. Grants distributed as a result of the sale and renewal of license plates help fund programs that emphasize healthy lifestyles for youth. This year, 34 IAPD agencies received a PowerPlay! grant. Since the program’s inception, more than $540,000 in beyond-school grants have been given to our member agencies.
Friends championed a large-scale study and produced a brochure entitled Parks & Forest Preserves Bring Value to Our Communities. The overall message is clear: The citizens of Illinois know that park districts and forest preserves have a significant impact on the well-being of a community and on the state of Illinois.
Today, when we are still faced with a need to protect green space, to help youth at risk and to conduct in-depth research, we are relying on good Friends like you to seek your support. Won’t you please help us?
Thank You To Our Friends!

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
We ask that you please consider making a donation to Friends of Illinois Parks. Thank you!
The IAPD and Friends of Illinois Parks has been a member of Earthshare for several years. What is EarthShare? Their mission is to engage individuals and organizations in building a healthy and sustainable environment.

EarthShare manages workplace charity campaigns for employers, including the SECA (State and University Employees Combined Appeal) and the CFC (Combined Federal Campaign).
EarthShare's member charities
represent the full range of environmental issues. Just one general
donation to EarthShare can touch all of these causes. On the other hand,
if you have a preference you may direct your gift to one or more
specific member organizations. The choice is yours.
