Protecting and enhancing parks, open spaces, and the quality of life in Illinois communities
More than two million children in Illinois are unsupervised in the hours after school. Too often they fall victim to drug use and /or crime.
But there's a solution and you can help.
The PowerPlay! Beyond School Grant Program helps fund positive beyond-school programs that emphasize healthy lifestyles. The impact is dramatic - children in beyond-school programs are two times less likely to use drugs and one-third less likely to become teen parents.
This past year the PowerPlay! program was able to help nearly 10,000 children at 50 park and recreation agencies learn about the importance of health, nutrition and fitness. And, more importantly, keep these children safe!
Today, when we are still faced with this need to help youth at risk, we are relying on good Friends like you to ask for your help. We need your support to continue to provide additional resources to our agencies to provide safe opportunities for children.
Won’t you please help us?

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
We ask that you please consider making a donation to Friends of Illinois Parks. Thank you!
The IAPD and Friends of Illinois Parks has been a member of Earthshare for several years. What is EarthShare? EarthShare represents dozens of national organizations and hundreds of state-based groups in 23 states. Their mission is to engage individuals and organizations in building a healthy and sustainable environment.
One Environment. One Simply Way to Care For It.
EarthShare manages workplace charity campaigns for employers, including the SECA (State and University Employees Combined Appeal) and the CFC (Combined Federal Campaign).
EarthShare's member charities
represent the full range of environmental issues. Just one general
donation to EarthShare can touch all of these causes. On the other hand,
if you have a preference you may direct your gift to one or more
specific member organizations. The choice is yours.
