This webinar will focus on the administrative rule overhaul that was put into place by the Local Records Commissions in February of this year. The most dramatic area of change is in the introduction of guidelines for both digitization of paper records and the management of electronic records. A review of basic records maintenance processes will start the presentation to ensure that participants have the necessary baseline knowledge.

Participants will learn:

  • the proper procedures for the creation and updating of records retention schedules
  • the process for formally disposing of records at the end of their prescribed retention periods
  • new options for managing records as a result of the administrative rule changes
  • legal requirements for the management of electronic records
